For the first two pictures in the draft, I had mixed 'reviews' on the pictures of where the water falls from the water fall. For these two pictures I showed more of the actual fountain itself.  I chose to show two of the exact scene although I had a picture of this fountain from a different angle that had very smooth, brushed water. Still, these two pictures show the difference in the shutter speed adjustments.

I was unable to retake the same picture to demonstrate adjustments of the  F-Stop setting. I found that all the pictures continued to be blurry or to not show differences between the focus on the front and back objects.
I chose to take pictures of a couple University of Kentucky objects using different FStop settings. I thought of the picture of fruit someone had taken when I set up these shots.  I was able to set the camera on the counter top so it did not shake.  I found it quite difficult to get the desired effect accomplished.

Project TWO- Draft

Two photos of the same subject taken with different F-Stops

Below are two pictures taken on September 22, 2012 at 10:40am in a field just down from my house. The wildflowers and ivy have grown over the hay bales. 

The first picture has an F-Stop of 22 and the bottom picture has an F-Stop of 3.5.  Although there are subtle differences in the two pictures, the differences are not obvious upon first sight.  The second picture has clearer leaves in the foreground and more definition to the flowers and the colors.

Two photos of the same moving subject with two different shutter speeds.
The two pictures below were taken on the UH campus during class on Monday September 17, 2012 .  The pictures show the falling and pooling of water from one of the fountains.  The first picture has a shutter speed of 1/8 sec. and the second picture has a shutter speed of 1/200 sec.  There is an obvious difference in the photos. The first picture presents the water as more of a blur or a streak.  The second picture presents more individual drops of water although there is still a bit of a blur.  The pooling in the first picture is not as clear as in the second photo.

Demonstrate Composition Guidelines

This picture represents the composition technique of Dominance through non-conformity. There is a large variety of buttons in this picture, all shapes and sizes, but the pink one is what stands out!

Picture Set ONE:  Physically moving closer to an object. 
The advice given for improving the flower pictures was to take an additional shot from an even closer range which I did in the second picture. I took these pictures 09/15/2012 around 7:15am, High Island TX.  The colors of the flowers are more vibrant today.  It has rained and some of the dust that was on the plants in the earlier pictures is gone.

Picture Set TWO- Increasing Lens from 18mm to 55mm
The advice given for improving the second set of pictures was to choose a different subject - something that could be clearly seen from both settings instead of just from the 55mm setting. The picture of the alligator was difficult to see at the 18mm setting.  I went back to the Wildlife Reserve on 9/15/2012 but was unable to find an alligator besides the one below!

Since I was not able to replicate the pictures from the first draft, I decided to post two pictures that clearly show the difference between using the 18mm and the 55mm lens.  Both pictures were taken from the same level with the only change being in the lens. These pictures were taken 09/09/2012 around 9:30am at our beach lot in Gilchrist TX.

Picture Set THREE- Using two different automatic settings. 

The advice given on the the draft pictures was to have a focal point/ a more visually striking focal point.  These pictures were taken 09/15/2012 around 7:00am when the sun was rising over the Gulf at High Island TX.  I am in the same spot as the draft pictures except I stood on part of the dunes to get more of the water in the picture.  I took several pictures but noticed that most of them had a glare or "extra" sun in them.  The first picture  was taken with camera set on automatic.  The second picture was taken with the camera set on Landscape - another automatic setting. The landscape mode picture is darker than the normal mode at the front of the picture. The landscape mode picture is brighter in the sky and water than the normal mode .
